CULTURE
The Kayapo Tribe has very unique and traditional cultural traits in their clothing, hunting and ways of life. To start, the clothing is very different from any other culture in the world. The women have the responsibility of shaving a "V" shape on the scalp of everyone's heads. The clothing consists of many vibrant colors and feathers. Also body paint and piercings are commonly seen throughout the villages. Women are also responsible for getting the body paint ready of the men.
In another example, the ways of life in the tribe have been around for centuries. The men leave their homes when they marry, and they transmit their names to their brother's daughters. They are also responsible for hunting and getting large food for the people of the village. The women of the Kayapo culture don't have as many rights as the men, for example, women are not allowed to enter the main hut of the village. Also, men usually have more than one wife to increase the amount of offspring made, as their population has significantly decreased during globalization.
They all speak the one native language of Kayapo. Each individual tribe has their own dialect, but they all branch from the original Brazillian Kayapo language. Some speak basic Portuguese. The Kayapo language belongs to Ge Lingustic Family.
